Dow Thailand Continues Expanding Green Protection Strips on World Environment Day

On the World Environment Day, Dow Thailand Group led by Mr. Narin Wongtanasirikul, Responsible Care Leader, together with Community Advisory Panel, and volunteers from the U.S. Embassy totaling 300 people held the mangrove-tree planting activity under “Dow Thailand’s Golden Jubilee: Following the King Bhumibol’s Footprints” theme around the Remembrance Lhuangprasae Battleship area in Rayong province. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary in Thailand in 2017, Dow Thailand organized the activity in order to help prevent disaster from the wind waves in the monsoon season, save marine lives, promote community tourism and economy, and pay tribute to King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The tree-planting activity at the Prasae estuary bolsters Dow Thailand Group’s commitment to responsible operations toward the environment and community and marks the 9th consecutive year that the company has partaken in planting additional 999 mangrove trees, releasing 999 fish into the sea, picking up trash on the beach, and providing 105 rubber boots to Prasae Municipality in supporting for mangrove-tree plantation activities. Since 2009, Dow Thailand Group has been afforested 11,999 mangrove trees at the Prasae estuary. This reflects the commitment of Dow around the globe to 2025 Sustainability Goals by leveraging the potentials of employees to create economic and social values that will lead to better changes in the world.
The volunteers were planting additional 999 mangrove trees, releasing 999 fish into the sea, and picking up trash this year. In total, Dow Thailand Group has completed planting 11,999 trees at the Prasae estuary since 2009.
