Business Portfolio

Dow Thailand Group, the largest manufacturing base of Dow in the Asia-Pacific region, consists of 13 companies under two main organization structures

Group of Dow Chemical Thailand

Group of Dow Chemical Thailand is a group of Dow wholly owned subsidiaries held by Dow Group in US at 99.99 percent of the shares, consisting of five companies as follows:

  • Dow Chemical Thailand Ltd.
  • Carbide Chemical (Thailand) Ltd.
  • Rohm and Haas Chemical (Thailand) Ltd.
  • MTP HPPO Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

Dow Chemical Thailand Ltd. manufactures polyols/formulated polyols, propylene glycol, polyether polyol, and imports/markets other Dow products that serve diverse industries: solvents and epoxy for paint, coating and electronics industries; surfactants and amines for the textile industry; polyglycol for the personal-care industry; intermediates for plastics and petrochemical industries; plastics and chemicals for the automotive industry; ion-exchange resins and reverse-osmosis membrane for water purification applications, including emulsion polymers for paint and coatings.

Carbide Chemical (Thailand) Ltd. manufactures assorted synthetic latex polymers: all-acrylic, styrene-acrylic, vinyl-acrylic, vinyl-versatic, and poly (vinyl acetate) photopolymer. These high-quality products find applications in architectural paint, pigment printing for textiles and non-woven materials, adhesives for the construction industry, inks, floor polish, and caulks and sealants.

Rohm and Haas Chemical (Thailand) Ltd. manufactures acrylic emulsions for water-based emulsion paint, roof-tile coatings, pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) for labels and tapes, opaque polymers, textiles and non-woven adhesive applications, and poly-acrylic acid solutions for detergent polymers, water-treatment scale inhibitors, and mineral dispersants.

MTP HPPO Manufacturing Co., Ltd. relies on the innovative hydrogen peroxide to propylene oxide (HPPO) technology jointly developed by BASF and Dow. The breakthrough technology enables production of propylene oxide without styrene monomer as a by-product while avoiding the formation of other by-products, thus significantly reducing wastewater generation. This technology was internationally recognized with an Innovation and Excellence Award in Core Engineering from the Institution of Chemical Engineers, headquartered in the United Kingdom and 2010 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Propylene oxide serves as feedstock for various industrial products, including polyurethanes, propylene glycols, and glycol ethers, used for insulation, furniture, personal care products, and brake fluids.
