
Bangkok, Thailand – December 4, 2024 – Dow Thailand has announced the appointment of Vichan Tangkengsirisin as the new president of Dow Thailand, overseeing Dow Chemical Thailand and the SCGC-Dow joint venture operations. Vichan will succeed Chatchai Luanpolcharoenchai, who will retire after 33 years of dedicated service to the company, effective January 1, 2025.

Chatchai Luanpolcharoenchai has played a crucial role in driving Dow Thailand’s growth strategy, expanding asset capacity, and promoting sustainable innovations to decarbonize key industries in Thaialnd such as packaging, building and infrastructure, automotive, and consumer care. Under his leadership, Dow Thailand has been recognized as a leading materials science company driving sustainability.
Chatchai has also supported numerous large-scale sustainability projects, including joining hands with partners in Thailand to establish the Public Private Partnership for Sustainable Plastic and Waste Management (PPP Plastics), leading many circular economy partnerships and supporting the founding of Thailand Mangrove Alliance.
Vichan Tangkengsirisin, the new President, brings extensive knowledge and international experience in materials science and petrochemicals. He has previously held various regional business strategy and commercial leadership roles. Vichan holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Chulalongkorn University and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan.
He joined Dow Thailand in 1997 and has held significant positions in multiple business units and countries, including regional account manager for the polystyrene business, business and account manager for the Petronas-Dow joint venture in Malaysia, and business manager for the SCGC-Dow joint venture in Map Ta Phut, Thailand where he played a key role in establishing the HPPO plant, Rayong Terminal Company, and the hydrogen peroxide plant in Thailand.

Vichan served as the product director of propylene oxide and propylene glycol products, and the sales director for polyurethanes in Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. He also held the position of Dow Indonesia president.
Most recently, Vichan worked as the Asia Pacific commercial director for polyurethanes and industrial solutions, based in Singapore. He will relocate to Thailand to assume his new role as President of Dow Thailand in January 2025.
